Robben Island unveils new website
Robben Island Museum (RIM) has launched a new website that features a virtual tour and information.
“It is an interactive website aimed at honouring the multi-layered history of Robben Island – looking at the island as a place of isolation, banishment, military post, leper colony, and a site of political imprisonment,” says Sibongiseni Mkhize, RIM CEO.
The new website hopes to enhance the visitor experience by giving visitors the opportunity to orientate themselves through the website with a virtual tour, says Mkhize. Visitors can also view ex-political prisoners talking about their experiences.
The site can be used to book tickets and also access information on the weather and ferries.
