ZAMBIA'S HUNTING BAN
Future of Zambia’s hunting ban uncertain
Zambia’s controversial hunting ban has come under fire once again after the country’s Tourism and Arts Minister, Sylvia Masebo, was fired at the end of last month.
Masebo was dismissed over allegations of corruption and abuse of office with regard to Zambia Wildlife Authority (ZAWA) tenders, despite the court’s findings that Masebo never gained any pecuniary advantage nor breached the parliamentary and ministerial code of conduct over her handling of affairs at ZAWA.
Jean Kapata was appointed to take over from Masebo as the Minister of Tourism and Arts.
It is still unclear what will happen to the Zambian hunting ban on big cats and the suspension of hunting activities outside fenced game parks following Masebo’s dismissal, says Ade Coley, Owner of Flatdogs Camp..
